Drypoint and Chine Colle - Moreton Island
Today, I’ve used an old Drypoint plate to create a new print. I’ve added chine colle to add colour, texture and depth to the print. I make my own chine colle papers using wet strength tissue paper, golden open acrylics and a gel plate.
When creating the print, I need to do the following:
Etch (scratch) the plate;
Add glue to the back of the chine colle paper;
Ink the plate;
Dampen the paper;
Register the plate on the press;
Add the chine colle on top of the plate;
Add the dampened paper on top of the chine colle; and
Roll through the press.
Sometimes I add additional tissue paper (collage) and add some mark making to enhance the print. Each print is individual.
