I love this process! one, because it uses mt favourite colour. And two, becasue you can do it on paper, fabric, canvas etc.
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes. It uses a solution of iron salts and UV light to expose the ogbject on the paper. It's trademark colour of cyan or Prussian Blue lead to the term 'blueprints'.
You can expose just about any objecy tou like with cyanotype. Botanicals, negatives, solid objects, glass, lace to name a few. You are only limited by your imagination.
It is a relatively low tech process to start with. You nee the chemicals (can be bought in kit form), good quality 100% cotton rag papwr, UV light (Australian sun has plenty!), brushes, water and some peroxide.
